DARLINGTON striker Stephen Thompson scored a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-2 win at fellow strugglers Leamington.

The hosts played the whole of the second half a man light after midfield man Joe Clarke was sent off for two yellows.

Both sides scored from the penalty spot in the first half, Callum Gittings' 17th-minute spot-kick cancelled out by Thompson.

The ten-man Brakes were ahead when Jack Clarke headed home - but Thompson equalised then scored a last-minute winner.

Quakers' boss Tommy Wright said: "We left it late and it was dramatic.

"We made it difficult for ourselves but that's now three unbeaten.

"I'm delighted for Thompson. We put him up top and he's scored his goals and made himself a hero again."
