Taylah Has Mixed Friday; Softball Resumes for Second Half

SOFTBALL: It was a big Friday night for one of Gladstone's rising players, Taylah Williams.

And it was also an evening of mixed results.

Catcher Taylah played two games, the first of those for Dodgers in a 6-5 thriller against Angels in the Fastpitch competition.

The result was not as good in the Gladstone Softball Incorporated senior competition.

Taylah donned the Souths White colours, but Bleats beat her team 7-0 in drizzly rain which made conditions challenging.

"You need to be quick on your feet and have a good arm to throw at the bases," she said of the main requirements to be an accomplished catcher.

So much so that Taylah made the Port Curtis team that will have trials in Rockhampton next week.

Reading of the play is something else a catcher needs to be good at as well as reflexes.

"Both Chyanne Downing and Kirsty Lester are Queensland players who I have caught to and both are pretty fast," Taylah said. …
