A MACKAY businessman has been convicted of racially abusing a restaurant manager, calling her a "f---ing Chinese c---" and "Asian pig" in front of diners.

Drew William Crouch's drunken behaviour prompted patrons to leap to the woman's defence, and report the incident to police.

The 48-year-old Mackay man's case was heard in his absence in Mackay Magistrates Court on Friday, after he pleaded guilty to public nuisance on August 17, 2017.

Prosecutor Shelby Larcombe said about 6.30pm on the day, Crouch walked into a River St restaurant and became "involved in an argument with the manager, calling her a 'f----ing Chinese c--- and Asian pig'."

"The defendant has walked out of the restaurant and as he has passed a table of customers with an eight-year-old child, he has said several times 'Asian pig'," Ms Larcombe said.

"The defendant has returned a short time later and stood outside the restaurant and yelled words to the effect of 'f---ing Chinese dog'. …
