WELL that was one looooong month. I have never been so glad to see February arrive.

I don't do Dry January (mine wasn't quite wet but definitely damp), so I haven't been celebrating the end of an alcoholfree month, but the first pay day after Christmas is a good one.

If you managed to abstain from spending in the sales it's even better, as your first spend of the year will be on new season stock.

There is something decadent and exciting about buying full price when there are still lots of reduced clothes available, it feels like you're making a fresh start. While online and in some designer stores there may still be bargains to be had, by now the high street has been stripped and the clothes left hanging are there for a reason - they are ill fitting, unflattering, itchy, broken or just plain ugly.

Step away from the sale rails now.

February brings with it Valentine's Day on the 14th which, regardless of your thoughts on romance, is a perfect excuse for a flutter in the shops. …
