WEST Brom have sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman.

The pair have been given notice of termination of their contracts and been placed on garden leave with immediate effect, the club announced last night.

Following his recent appointment as a director of WBA Holdings, the club's controlling company, Mark Jenkins will return as chief executive.

A club spokesman said: "We would like to thank John and Martin for all their efforts since their appointments and wish them well for the future."

The sackings come with Albion bottom of the Premier League and seven points from the safety line following Monday's 3-0 defeat at Chelsea, the club citing poor results as a catalyst for change.

It is believed the club have no plans to appoint a replacement chairman this season.

It is also understood manager Alan Pardew's job is not under immediate threat despite Albion's position in the table.

The former Newcastle boss has won just one of his 13 league games in charge since replacing Tony Pulis in November. …
