Pre-Season Hit-Out Will Show Where Teams Stand

WITH teams having trained hard since the Christmas break, this weekend will see if it has paid off when Lismore, Grafton, Ballina and Byron Bay basketballers gather in Lismore for the 2018 Sunshine Conference pre-season carnival.

The carnival, which is held over two days, will involve men's and women's teams in a round-robin tournament as a lead-up to the Sunshine Conference.

The league is growing stronger each year with all associations working hard to showcase top quality games that spectators will want to come and watch.

All teams will field a number of young players this weekend who have stepped up from the 2017 Northern Junior League and are eager to make their presence felt in senior competition.

There are also a number of local players who have returned home from across the border, which will strengthen their home-town line-ups.

The Lismore Storm women have done a lot of soul-searching after losing the grand final to Grafton last year.

With new coach Chris Greensill, Lismore is looking forward to the rematch against Grafton this weekend. …
