THESE are just some of the North East criminals that were locked up in January.

The following criminals were among those jailed: Brothers Tony and Ricky Duddin attacked a man with a machete outside his home.

Tony Duddin, 25, of Front Street, Craghead, Stanley, and Ricky Duddin, 23, of Elm Street, Stanley, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent.

Tony Duddin also admitted offences from November last year of dangerous driving - involving a police chase at speeds of up to 70mph in 20mph and 30mph zones - aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and assaulting a PC.

Tony Duddin was jailed for nine years. Ricky Duddin was jailed for seven years and two months.

Warren Milne, who has learning difficulties, sent explicit messages to people he thought were 13 and 14-year-old girls, and asked them to meet him for sex.

But he was actually messaging vigilante paedophile hunters.

Milne, formerly of Hillhead Road, West Denton, admitted four offences of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. He also breached a sexual harm prevention order. He was jailed for ten months.

Louis Murray was locked up for 10 years for raping a young boy.

Trampoline coach Murray, 22, groomed the boy from the age of 10 and sexually abused him. Murray, of Wilbury Place, Blakelaw, Newcastle, must sign the sex offenders' register for life and was made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

"Predatory" paedophile Mark Urwin was jailed for indecently assaulting young girls was caught with indecent images of children weeks after getting out of prison.

He was locked up for five-and-a-half years in 2014 for attacks on three girls dating back to the 1990s in Jarrow.

Last April the 52-yearold was released on licence to live at a hostel in Gateshead. But police found child abuse images on his phone in July.

Ryan Brody was jailed for raping a 14-year-old girl. Brody, 20, formerly of Bamburgh Terrace, Ashington, lured the girl to an alleyway. …
