Interclub Event to Help Players; Time to Sign on for New Tournament

TENNIS: An exciting new event will be conducted in Ipswich on the weekend of March 24 and 25.

The inaugural Ipswich District Interclub Ranking Championships is being planned after the Ipswich summer season finals are played.

Tennis official Fred Daniel said the closed event would cater for players of all standards and ages.

He said the two-day event was being organised by the clubs and associations in Ipswich participating in the local Saturday fixture competition.

"It will be a great opportunity for players to put themselves against other players of a similar standard in both singles and doubles events,'' Daniel said.

"All clubs are trying to get a high percentage of fixture players to enter.''

Players can also enter a singles event one level up from their current playing standard to really test their skills.

All players' current local rankings will be taken into account when the draw is conducted and players will receive at least three matches per event in a round robin format. …
