Collins Wins Title in Borrowed Junior Car

MOTORSPORT: Bundaberg's Casey Collins won a state title with a little help from his friends last weekend.

The teenager in his final race in juniors won the state title in Rockhampton, becoming the first driver to win it twice.

But it could have been a race Collins never entered.

His family sold his junior car as he prepared for the next chapter of his racing career in modified sedans.

The racer did not have an entry to compete in, until someone came to the rescue.

"I posted about my car and then Dennis Shallcross got in contact with me," Collins said.

"He built the car his nephew (Mitch Wogandt) competes in and he let us use the car for the race."

Collins then did the rest, dominating the weekend to take the crown.

He won three heats before winning the main race from second on the grid. …
