SURF LIFE SAVING: Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club has again punched well above its weight at the 2018 Queensland State Youth Life Saving Championships.

The club finished 13th behind winner Currumbin, but Tannum coach John Andrews was ecstatic with the efforts from all of his competitors.

In whole, they collected 11 medals, made up of four gold, five silver and two bronze across a variety of disciplines.

Kane Martin, Brady Blake and Taj Andrews were first in the under-12 board relay and Kane and Taj also scored gold in the U12 board rescue.

"I was super proud of our young chargers and we had most of our competitors featuring in event finals," Andrews said.

"It's such a buzz hearing Tannum Sands over the loudspeakers as racing was heating up in team finals on Saturday and individual finals on the Sunday."

Mia Bell, Millie Hinz, Charlie Harrison and Indie Singh were members of the gold medal-winning U13 beach relay team while Peyton Craig produced a brilliant individual performance to win gold in the U13 1km run. …
