Police Want to Talk to Driver Who Fled

WRECKAGE litters this Middlesbrough road after a pile-up that left police appealing for help.

The crash, which happened shortly before 1.30pm on Sunday, involved a Citroen Berlingo van and a Citroen C5 car just outside the entrance to Roseberry Park Hospital, on Marton Road.

Cleveland Police has confirmed that a passenger in the Berlingo, a woman, suffered a broken arm and remains in James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

And a spokeswoman for the force said officers would like to hear from the Berlingo driver, who left the scene after the collision.

As reported, when the first of the emergency services arrived, the driver of the C5, a woman thought to be in her 40s, was still in the car.

According to a witness, she was treated at the scene by a doctor still in his pyjamas, having come to assist from the nearby hospital staff accommodation.

Also injured at the scene was a man, thought to be in his 30s, who the witness said was lying in the road next to the van with a cut on his head. …
