Business Boss Is Suspended over 'Racist' Recording

ONE of Britain's leading business bosses has been suspended from her role after a tape emerged of a recording of allegedly racist and sexist comments. The Institute of Directors said its chairwoman, Lady Judge, would no longer carry out the role "pending further investigation into the matters raised and the process".

The move came after the council of the Pall Mall-based business group known as "the bosses' club" met to discuss an initial investigation into her conduct. Council members are believed to have been told about the recording of an alleged conversation between Lady Judge and Stephen Martin, its director-general, in April 2017. The IoD's senior independent council member Dame Joan Stringer sent an email yesterday saying that she would "provide one piece of clear evidence concerning racist and sexist comments allegedly made by Lady Judge".

The draft report quotes Lady Judge saying "we have three inexperienced people doing a job [that of corporate secretary at the IoD] when one experi-enced person could do it and they are making mistakes". …
