YOU know the naked dream, the one where you're standing in the middle of a Paris Fashion Week catwalk with nothing but an iPhone to hide your modesty? I've had that three times this week. Weighed down with anxiety following 10 months of maternity leave and what feels like a lifetime of trousers with expandable waistbands, my head is a breeding ground for style dilemmas (is it still socially acceptable to wear frayed hem jeans and, worryingly, does Phoebe Philo's departure from Celine spell the end of office track-pants?).

A quick audit of desk mates (a new novelty) confirms that it's not just those returning to the land of al desko lunches who find themselves anxiously scrolling through the "new in" section of Net-a-Porter during the wee small hours. Much like Tube rage and the fear of missing out on a new and ridiculously named pasta restaurant (it's a thing), severe wardrobe anxiety is endemic in this city.

With such fraughtness in mind, I bring you a painstakingly researched plan to rebooting your spring look. This is no Queer Eye overhaul but a checklist of all that you need to start afresh.

The key is to wipe the slate clean (see badly fitting dresses, scratchy fabrics and moth-eaten sweaters). Once you've arrived at wardrobe square one you can begin.

1. Find the right trousers ...and you're sorted. This is no exaggeration. For SS18, a pair of black jumbo cords is a great plan they're smart enough to wear to the office and borderline frumpy (a good thing this season). A pair of flatfronted herringbone trousers (far right) will also work hard for you. (PS79, Stories.com) 2. Learn to tuck A spade is a spade just as a shirt is a shirt, but how you tuck yours in is of paramount importance. Tuck loosely at the back and tightly around the front for a chic finish. …
