Fate Led Couple to Romantic Encounter at ... Costco? by Robyn Brody

I Do, I Do

Kim's list of hobbies included acting and Michael mentioned that he was an artist. They were attracted to the fact that both are creative people and they decided to give it a try. They went on a first date and all went well. What are the odds that just two days later, they would both end up with eye doctor appointments at the very same time at the local Costco? They sat right next to each other and talked while they waited. They certainly don't consider that their second date, but perhaps instead, it was fate. They realized from that moment on, they definitely see eye to eye.

It did not take long for them to fall in love. Both are 34 years old. Kim, a technology company quality analyst, said people always talked about finding the perfect match and she never quite understood that, until she met Michael. "When I met him it all made sense. He was worth the wait." Michael, an industrial designer, realized how much they had in common including food, music and traveling. The most important thing was that their dogs got along well.

There could not be a more romantic place to get engaged than while drinking wine on a rooftop patio in Florence, Italy. Kim said everything about it was so special. She could not believe how calm Michael remained, never giving any indication that the magic moment was about to take place. Michael admitted there were a few glitches in his preparation. He tried to tell Kim's family about his plan before the trip, but it was like a comedy of errors. Kim's dad wasn't wearing his hearing aid, so he couldn't tell what Michael was saying. Kim's mom was out to dinner with friends and the background noise was too loud for her to hear. Michael also wanted to share his plan with Kim's brother. "When I was about to tell him, he was just getting off of a train and there was a loud horn and he didn't hear anything." Of course, none of that kept Michael from proposing. He gave Kim his great-grandmother's engagement ring that was nearly 100 years old. They then walked around Florence taking in the spectacular sites and soaking in the magic of the moment. …
