Paedophile Jailed for Grooming Boy

AN ANTI-PAEDOPHILE group has helped bring to justice a convicted sex offender who arrived at a supermarket car park to meet an underage boy. Middlesbrough man Andrew Dixon was confronted by Guardians of the North when he turned up at Asda in Pennywell, Sunderland, last September.

Dixon, 52, of Patey Court, Linthorpe, thought he was going to meet a 15-year-old boy, "Martin", for sex, after graphic chats on a gay dating website. But "Martin" was a decoy organised by the group.

Appearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Dixon admitted attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, breach of a sexual offences prevention order and possessing indecent images.

The prevention order was imposed when he was jailed for 12 months in 2007 for indecently assaulting a female child.

He was jailed for 33 months for three counts of making indecent photographs of children and six months, to run concurrently, for attempting to meet a child for sexual grooming. …
