Games Helpers Ready; Volunteers Set for Gold Coast Glory

THESE are just some of the friendly local faces volunteering their time and enthusiasm to help make the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games an event to remember.

While just a small contingent of the 15,000 members in the volunteering ranks, these residents from the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Southern Downs and Western Downs are headed east for the historic event.

And they're thrilled at the prospect.

Among them is Tegan DeClark who was at South Bank six years ago when it was announced the Gold Coast would host this year's games.

"It's a rare opportunity to be part of this, and it's not likely to happen again soon for us," she said.

"We were selected basically on our people skills so our job is to make the games for the people who come.

"We need to be friendly, we need to be helpful, we need to be welcoming so it's somewhat of a personality type of being involved because it does make the difference for the athletes. …
