Shearers to Strut Their Stuff; Best in the Shed Do Battle at the Show

CLICK go the shears at the Warwick Show and you can be there to take in all the action.

Warwick Show holds the largest clean shear competition in Queensland with almost $3000 in trophies and prizemoney, which helps attract the best shearers from throughout southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Heats in the shearing competition start at 10am today with finals from 2pm.

Young shearers and learners will be first up in the novice class, followed by ladies, then intermediate shearers and the open class. All contestants will be competing to win the Box Family Perpetual Shield.

The fun event of the day is the quick throw, which involves throwing a fleece onto the classing table in the shortest time.

It must lay flat on the table, have no folds in the fleece and be the right side up.

This is a skill every shed hand has to learn and wool classers don't appreciate a poorly thrown fleece so the pressure will be on. …
