The singer, whose mascot is her pet cat Kitty Purry, posed with a slightly bigger version at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sao Paulo. The three-metre stuffed plush model, which purrs, is by Brazilian artist Nina Pandolfo. The singer posted the shot on Instagram with the caption: "I CAME. I SAW. I WITNESSED BRASIL. I love you so very much."

Asked why movies lag behind the stage when it comes to stronger roles for women Lovibond, 32, said: "I don't know. It makes theatre attractive because the roles are more complex and they're clothed. Complex and clothed."

The actress, who played Carina in Guardians, starred at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in The Libertine in 2016 and will return to the stage later this year in Barney Norris's Nightfall, at the Bridge Theatre. She said she had "definitely" faced uncomfortable situations as an actress, but that the #MeToo and Time's Up movements, which aim to stamp out inequality and sexual harassment in the workplace, had made it a "satisfying" time to be in the film industry.

Speaking at the Empire Awards the actress, pictured, said: "I feel lucky to have an outlet to talk about things I've been really concerned by for a really long time. There has been no platform or outlet for any of those concerns and saying anything would have been sticking your head above the parapet. …
