SABIC staff and contractors have helped to give a big boost to four local charities after achieving outstanding safety standards during vital maintenance work to one of the region's major chemical plants. There were no safety incidents during a six-week period as more than 240 staff and contractors worked on the "turnaround" of SABIC's Butadiene 3 plant at Wilton.

As a result of the safety record achieved during the turnaround, SABIC agreed to donate PS4,000 to charity, with staff nominating North of England Children's Cancer Research, Redcar & Cleveland Mind, Zoe's Place Baby Hospice and Redcar RNLI to receive PS1,000 each. Taking place every six years, the turnaround involves a team of SABIC staff and more than 200 contractors carrying out preventative maintenance, cleaning and repair work.

A slice of fun was served to residents of Ingleby Care Home, in Ingleby Barwick, when they celebrated National Pizza Day with a trip to Frankie and Benny's at Teesside Park. …
