Drift Owner Calls It a Day on Venue

A POPULAR Caloundra hangout that "goes off" on weekends has officially come onto the market.

Mystery had surrounded the status of Bulcock Beach's Drift Bar and Grill, which shut, opened and then temporarily closed, all in a matter of days.

Early last week the business on the Esplanade down from Happy Valley appeared closed. Curtains were drawn, chairs stacked on tables.

Neighbouring businesses questioned whether the high rent prices in the area were to blame.

Another suggested the closure was down to its owners not paying suppliers or staff.

Yesterday, brokers of the licensed venue have confirmed it is now for sale.

Benchmark Business Sales and Valuations broker Wolfgang Groh confirmed a mixture of "financial and personal" issues forced the owner to sell.

The owner wants it gone as soon as possible.

"It caused undue stress and it is his intention to sell and move on," Mr Groh said. …
