AUSSIE RULES: Caloundra Panthers may have secured their first win of the season, but coach Steve Moody didn't want to sugar-coat it.

Panthers took down the University of Queensland 8.14 (62) to 5.7 (37) at home on Saturday during round two of the south-east Queensland division one.

Moody was happy to secure the win, but believed it wasn't their best effort, with plenty of improvement needed if the side was to continue the feeling.

"We were a little bit disappointed with how we played for probably three of the four quarters," he said.

"We feel like we have to be better than what we put forward for the majority of that game if we are going to be a top two or three side this year.

"You can't be too unhappy about winning but we just don't want to kid ourselves either and pretend it was a good win."

Moody said the Panthers were missing six of their top 18 players on Saturday due to injury or personal reasons with James Barnes and Nick Smith out due to NEAFL commitments. …
