Best Friends Honoured; Celebrating 40+ Yrs in Qld Health

THEY'VE been working together since they were high school graduates, and yesterday two nurses and best friends were recognised for their four decades of hard work.

Carmel Warren and Jahn-Maree Anthony have not only dedicated 40+ years of service, they've done it by each other's side.

The pair grew up together in Mackay going to primary school and high school together as best friends.

They both knew their passion was nursing from a young age and decided to kick start their career together at the age of 17, training at the Mackay Base Hospital for three years after graduating high school.

The pair then made the trek to Brisbane working at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

They then separated briefly focusing on their fields of interest - Mrs Warren midwifery back in Mackay and Mrs Anthony mental health in Toowoomba.

It wasn't until 1983, that Mrs Anthony made the move back to Mackay at the Base Hospital, that the pair were finally reunited and back working together under the same roof. …
