North Queensland Games: The memories of reaching the pinnacle of sport as a World Cup winner will last forever for Renae Kunst, but those etched and created as a rising junior remain some of the fondest.

Growing up in Mackay, the North Queensland Games provided served as the perfect conduit for Kunst, as she found her way from multi-sport junior competitor to future rugby league superstar.

Fittingly it was in netball where Kunst made her mark in the Games, and 15 years on from her last competition, she'll be watching on intently as the next generation of her family creates a new legacy of memories.

"My daughter Isabella (Sammut) is competing in netball which is really exciting," Kunst said.

"I have so many fond memories of the NQ Games in Mackay, and in Townsville, where I used to go away to compete.

"There's such wonderful memories for me as a teen, and now this year, I'm sure my daughter will (create) the same wonderful memories. …
