Still Nice Conditions in Water

Article excerpt

IT WAS a fun week with generally good weather and a small-ish S to SE swell.

The water is slowly chilling but in the main, it's nice in.

The driver of that SE/E swell has departed and its low level remnants still dribble through.

A capsule review of this weekend looks to show us nice weather and a small but fun swell.

Agnes Water to Coolangatta, tomorrow : Light and variable winds will tend offshore to glassy. A sure bet is for afternoon SE winds to 20 knots. Get cracking early for the best conditions. The open beaches will be a metre or less but the shape could be good. The day's high will be 27C and there's a 30-40 per cent chance of showers, most likely in the arvo.

The Gold Coast will have light offshores early and if you can find a good bank (look north), you'll have fun waves. Banks south of Burleigh are straight-as, but there's some indication little rip banks are starting. The points will be no better than the beaches ... until the arvo. By then, the wind will be up (20 knots SE), and they'll be your only option. The day's high will be 27C under partly cloudy skies. There's a 40 per cent chance of showers in the arvo.

Sunday: Light, variable winds will be on offer early but get crackin' because it'll blow from the S-SE to 15 knots by noon. The previous day's onshores will have added a little to the swell. We're looking at a metre-plus and only clean early. Late arrivals will want to head to the points and protected corners as the afternoon winds will again be SE to 20 knots. The skies will still be partly cloudy and showers are predicted to be a 40 per cent chance, most likely in the afternoon. The high temp will hit 26C and that's nice for this time of year.

Gold Coasters can expect a similar high (25C) and light morning offshores with fresh afternoon SE winds. …
