It's Time to Stand Up; Buccaneers to Play after Break

FOOTBALL: Wide Bay Buccaneers coach Adrian Elmes hopes that if the opportunity to win or draw comes again, his side is ready to take it.

The Buccaneers return to action tonight, taking on the Southside Eagles in the Football Queensland Premier League at Perry Park in Brisbane.

The side had a bye in the competition last week, which allowed them to break and reflect on the loss to Doon Villa in the FFA Cup on Anzac Day.

"It isn't forgotten but it is behind us," Elmes said.

"We refer to it as an opportunity lost not to beat Doon Villa.

"But we'll be better off for the week off. A few of the boys got to socialise and take some time off to be with family and friends."

The squad could face its next opportunity to gain success and a famous first point against the Eagles.

The opposition is currently second last, behind the Buccaneers, in the FQPL with six points so far.

They also have the second lowest goal scoring record in the competition and one of the worst defences in the competition. …
