AUSSIE RULES: The Panthers need to embrace a killer instinct if they are to pounce on the frontrunners, says coach Steve Moody.

Caloundra are currently relishing some fine form in the southeast Queensland division one competition and toppled Burleigh Bombers with ease 20.14-134 to 13.8-86 on Saturday.

However, although he was more than pleased with his charges' efforts, Moody believed they needed to work on closing out games.

The Panthers dominated the Bombers on Saturday, but lifted their foot off the pedal to cruise through the last quarter.

They scored five goals in both the first and second quarters and even went up a notch to land seven in the third period but only kicked two in the final stanza.

"It'd be nice for us to be able to finish off games (better)," he said.

"In an ideal world that's what you want as a coach, you'd like your side to be able to put their foot on the throat of their opposition and really grind the game right to the very end. …
