Dembele's Agent Rules out New Deal at Spurs before the World Cup

MOUSA DEMBELE will not sign a new contract with Tottenham before the World Cup, according to his agent.

Dembele's deal expires in 12 months but he is considering his future after starting just 21 of 38 League games.

The midfielder believes the physical demands of the Premier League are close to becoming too much.

Dembele, in Belgium's provisional 28-man World Cup squad, has grown frustrated at how long it has taken for him to return from injuries.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of Dembele, describing him as a "genius", but the club will reluctantly listen to offers for the 30-year-old in the summer.

Dembele's agent, Tom De Mul, said: "There is a lot going on around him, there is a lot of interest in him.

"We are waiting for the World Cup and I hope he plays after such a good season. For the time being, Mousa does not sign."

Meanwhile, Ryan Mason, who has been working as a youth coach at Spurs, has said Pochettino is "100 per cent committed" to the club. …
