AN armed invader who crept into his ex's home and attacked her partner wielding a screwdriver has been jailed for 12 years.

Jamie Lee Harvey, 27, was also locked up for being passenger in a car that ploughed into a house.

Narrowly avoiding a smash with an oncoming car, the driver sped off and crashed through railings and a garden wall and into the terraced house of Sylvia and Frank Sayers.

The Merc ended up embedded in the couple's living room while they slept at about 1.25am, trapping them in their home.

Mrs Sayers was helped to safety but her husband was trapped behind the collapsed staircase as the house filled with smoke from the car.

Harvey and the driver were cut from the wrecked car on August 16 last year. …
