Secrets of Success for Businesses; Hear from Speakers at Conference

LONELINESS and fear of the limelight are two of the biggest challenges facing people who run small businesses, a Stanthorpe conference will be told next month.

More than 100 business owners, tourism operators and local government representatives are expected to attend the two-day Southern Queensland Tourism Industry Conference (SQTIC) being held at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre.

This year's SQTIC will focus on the importance of the visitor experience, from their first contact through a website or phone call to the moment they walk out the door, said Southern Queensland Country Tourism Chief Executive Officer Mary-Clare Power.

"There's a big difference between customer service and customer experience and that will be discussed at SQTIC, along with workshops on how to deal with difficult situations or people and how to create that 'wow' factor for customers," she said.

Keynote speaker and third generation retailer Tracey Mathers will give delegates top tips on staying relevant in a fast-paced world and how to bring the 'wow' factor to their business. …
