SUNSHINE Coast hinterland residents have been busy attending various festivals near and far.

Woodfordia had a big weekend at its third Citizens' Day on Saturday.

The day's events were based around news happening around Woodfordia, infrastructure plans, party sessions and workshops, afternoon tea and the annual general meeting.

The day was open to all those interested in participating in events at Woodfordia during its festival time, as well as The Planting, Festival of Small Halls, Treehuggers and other programs throughout the year.

The workshops and forum provided interested people an opportunity to discuss how to encourage more involvement, new ideas and development programs for the years ahead.

The night was topped off by dinner and entertainment.

Meanwhile, the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival was held last Sunday in the nearby South Burnett region.

The town swelled to about 14,000 people for the weekend.

The fun-filled festival has been an annual event since 1997, when it was established to bring a much-needed financial and tourim boost to the town, about 75km west of Gympie.

The town sets up showers, campsites and toilet facilities to cater for visitors who like to stay and play for the weekend.

Among the activities and games on the day is the pumpkin roll down Policemans Hill - another huge success this year.

Busby Marou concert

BUSBY Marou will be playing a sold-out show at the Imperial Hotel tonight, with the gig kicking off at 7.30pm.

The duo - Thomas Busby and Jeremy Marou, from Rockhampton - are a couple of mates who used to play songs together at the local pub.

They have come a long way and been on tour together after writing and producing their three albums.

They look forward to writing another album this year, due for release in 2019.

The courtesy bus will be running from nearby towns for the Eumundi show.
