CT Gateshead (Chronicle May 23) says this government has done a lot for the British people. He says that deficit is coming down but our overall national debt is still increasing by over PS310,200 per minute!

The total national debt is now PS1.8 trillion which means if they paid it off at PS1000 per day it would take over 5,000,000 years to clear that sum.

George Osborne in 2010 said he would get rid of the debt by 2015 this figure went back and back till in 2016 he stopped all forecasting as to when it would go. The latest estimates are 2030-plus. At the same time we have lost our AAA rating.

The number in work has increased but police, firemen, teachers and civil servants etc have seen a drop in wages of over 9% since 2010. That is why they are all talking of striking.

The increased numbers are mainly "zero hours contract" employement where you are not entitled to holiday and you can turn up for work and be immediately sent home without compensation. …
