Cestrians' Title Bid Is Facing Toughest Test; DUKES NORTH EAST PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

CHESTER-LE-STREET hope to maintain their early-season momentum when they face their toughest test of the summer so far on Saturday, writes TONY HODGSON. The second-placed Cestrians visit the team who represent their biggest rivals in the race for the Premier Division crown - champions South Northumberland.

They go into the crunch clash follwing Saturday's draw with bottom club Felling, which means only one defeat in six starts to date.

Director of Cricket Andrew Bell said: "At the start of the season we were aware several clubs had undergone a lot of changes over the winter - including South North.

"We feel we have strengthened our squad well and as a result we hope to be up there challenging for the title.

"It is a wide open race this year, any team is capable of beating anyone else, but we have a lot of experience in the squad as well as acquiring several good new recruits.

"We were disappointed to lose to Whitburn.

"Apart from that we have done well - now it is just a case of maintaining our momentum and winning as any games as we can. …
