Wolves Improve Play; Wolves Have Weekend off before Hosting St Alban's and USQ

FOOTBALL: The return of the Warwick Wolves women's team to Darling Downs football has been rated a success by co-coach Dave Burton.

In 2016, Warwick made the women's grand final in Toowoomba before not fielding a team last year.

Now the Warwick premier men and women are the two Southern Downs teams in senior Toowoomba competitions. Burton and Karen Gilchrist are the joint coaches of the women's team which has a squad of 17.

"We have two players out at present so have 15 in the squad right now," Burton said.

"Warwick had a 2-all draw against USQ in round 8 and will be aiming for a win in the next game between the two sides.

"Our whole team has really improved. Some of the women are playing their first season in seniors after playing in junior competitions in Warwick."

He also believes the Wolves had the team to win against the second Gatton women's side.

Last weekend, Warwick went down 7-0 to the top Gatton team after losing 11-0 in the first round to the same team. …
