I WAS glad to be asked if I'd like to attend an event to show our support from the Observer for a local business in our community.

It was the re-opening at Klickitys restaurant and the official night was to be attended by business people.

Just out of the blue, I thought, why not invite a dear friend who I've worked with over the years and I could always count on her to join me at many of our promotional events.

I've missed her since she's been on leave, and with good cause - she became a new mum with twins.

I rang Crystal and, on hearing her voice, I thought my timing of this invitation couldn't have been better.

She was going to speak to her partner about babysitting for a few hours.

Well she got the nod and it was all go, but I had one condition - I insisted that I would shout her out for the night and, if she wouldn't accept my offer, then my invite to her would be cancelled. …
