Stones Isn't Bitter - He's Just Better; John Has Chance to Strike at Big Odds as England Prepare to Get out the Panama Cigars

Article excerpt

AFTER England beat Tunisia the back-page heading in the Record was: No Kane, No Gain.

That summed it up perfectly with two-goal Harry Kane earning the points but Gareth Southgate can't rely on his skipper the way Portugal do on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kane's not in that bracket and while his finishing skills have improved no end he can sometimes look ordinary.

Ronaldo's two clear of the Spurs golden boy in the Golden Boot race and Kane will fancy his chances of hitting one or two against Panama tomorrow.

The Central Americans are one of the weakest teams in Russia and were overpowered 3-0 by Belgium after battling to hold them at half-time.

England made a fast start against Tunisia before losing their way and conceding then getting out of jail with Kane's late header.

If they race out of the blocks again they can be backed to win HT/FT at 5-6 with Ladbrokes which is better value than just to win at 2-9. Panama posed little threat to the Belgian defence until they trailed 3-0 so consider England to win to nil at 13-20 with McBookie even though they conceded a penalty against the Tunisians.

A 2-0 scoreline is possible at 19-4 at Unibet or if you go with the "trendy" 1-0 that pays 19-4 at Unibet. Panama have conceded two or more only twice in 10.

If you think England will match the Belgians and win 3-0 you can have 6-1. Kane is first-scorer favourite at 21-10 with Marathonbet and I wouldn't put anyone off backing him while to net at any time he is 6-10 at William Hill.

Southgate is likely to freshen up his side ahead of the meeting with Belgium and one change will be the injured Delle Alli dropping out for Ruben Loftus-Cheek who possesses less of a goal threat.

Marcus Rashford impressed off the bench in the opener and is set to start at the expense of Raheem Sterling. The Man United kid is 4-1 at bet365 to score first. …
