Boro May Be Tempted to Renew Ojo Interest [...]

Fulham won the race to sign Sheyi Ojo on loan last summer, pipping Boro and several other suitors to the Liverpool winger's signature. Now, once again, the Reds have made the England Under-20 World Cup winner available, though this time may be open to offers for a permanent deal. Middlesbrough are one of the clubs who have been linked with the talented 21-year-old. To find out how he performed with promotion-winning Fulham, Philip Tallentire spoke to GetWestLondon reporter Ryan O'Donovan, who followed Slavisa Jokanovic's side home and away last season.

FULHAM thought they'd pulled off a major transfer coup last summer when they signed Sheyi Ojo.

He was fresh from England's triumph at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea and a highly regarded product of Liverpool's vaunted Academy.

But, according to regular Fulham watcher Ryan O'Donovan, that wasn't exactly how things turned out.

He said: "Ojo started off pretty well and so did the team. Fulham only lost one of their first five league games he was involved in and then he got injured."

Ojo suffered his setback in Fulham's 2-1 West London derby win over QPR.

The Telegraph report from that match read: "Fredericks was outstanding, with Liverpool loan winger Sheyi Ojo also looking impressive before being carried off with a painful shoulder injury."

The player ended up in hospital where he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder.

That was certainly a setback but Ojo was superb on his comeback, scoring twice in a remarkable 5-4 victory over Sheffield United, a game O'Donovan remembers well.

"Ojo was out for a while but when he came back he looked really good against Sheffield United, he scored twice and also set one up," he said.

"He continued to do all right up to the time Fulham signed (Aleksander) Mitrovic and from that point he wasn't able to make quite the same impact. …
