New Twist on Old Stuff; Creatives Join Forces to Produce Unique Pallet Pieces

Article excerpt

Byline: Josie Morris

PALLET Space is located in the old sheds along the Palmwoods rail line, also known as the Palmwoods Rail Sheds.

The buildings were built in 1910 and were a thriving spot in the region's fruit growers association era.

As time went by, the sheds were slowly being eaten away by white ants, before being taken over by Katy Fraser and Marilyn Stocks.

Ms Stocks has been a driving force behind restoration efforts, which are still in progress. With her passion and experience, it's easy to see why.

The Pallet Space Re-cycled Re-loved Re-designed Shop houses many artistic creations.

Pallets, recycled timber and vintage furniture are pulled apart and made into new pieces with their own stories to tell.

The team at Pallet Space make rustic boxes, bird houses, planter boxes, beautiful old hardwood dining tables, coffee tables, wall units, kitchen benches, and rustic bars and stools.

They can also create chalk paint furniture for clients and have items in the sheds for sale, as well as specialising in custom-made shop fit-outs, daycares, nurseries, cafes and restaurants.

Designing unique statement pieces for homes and businesses is a speciality of the team. They have built pieces for businesses including Junk restaurant in Maroochydore, CK Coffee Bar and Wholefoods in Mooloolaba, The Store Eumundi and Husk and Honey in Nambour.

Pallet Space is open to wholesalers, with businesses in Brisbane and the Gold Coast on board.

Joining Pallet Space in the old sheds are a number of other funky stores. Bohemian Born features rustic western wears and all things cowboy, while Lawless Garage Art uses discarded steel to make its creations. Art of the Soul by local artist Di Shallis hones in on her passion for art.

If this all sounds like something you'd like check out, there will be a grand opening coming soon.
