Students were evacuated from Middleburg Elementary School March 30 after someone discovered a fire burning in a garbage can in the library bathroom.

An employee immediately doused the flames with a fire extinguisher, limiting the damage to the plastic trash can, the sheriff's report said.

A Middleburg woman called 911 from her bedroom Monday after she heard someone break a glass window and enter her home.

The resident, who lives in the 2900 block of Eagle Point Road, told deputies she heard glass breaking and a crackling noise like someone walking on broken glass, the sheriff's report said. Deputies found a broken pane of glass, a large rock on the woman's front stoop and a dent in the front door, the report said.

An Orange Park woman reported Friday that someone entered her home and stole her purse while she was taking a shower.

The woman, who lives in the 600 block of Filmore Street, said her purse contained a gold ring, gold necklace and $50 in cash, the sheriff's report said. …
