Prosecutors charged a 20-year-old Jacksonville man with manslaughter yesterday in the death of a teenage girl this month.

David Ennis and his friend, Tamala Reneke, 16, were toying with the magazine of an automatic pistol early Aug. 1 when the gun went off and killed the girl, police said.

Police said Reneke snuck out of her home in the 5600 block of Bradshaw Street about 1 a.m. to see Ennis.

Assistant State Attorney Andrew Kantor said the decision to charge Ennis came after a review of the facts.

HILLIARD TEEN SENTENCED: A former Hilliard Senior High School student who was found with two guns in the school's parking lot after threatening to kill faculty has been sentenced to two years in jail.

Brian Thompson, who was 16 when he was arrested last August, has already served a year at the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Jacksonville. He will remain there until he turns 18 on Nov. 23, when he will be transferred to the Nassau County jail to serve the rest of his sentence. …
