THE finish of last Tuesday's annual Kumbia Cup produced a little more drama than usual with the judge amending the original placings in the 1400m Cup.

After a very close finish, Land Office was semaphored as the winner over Still the Same.

However a representative of the runner-up's trainer asked to view the photo finish.

Subsequently the judge amended the cup placings to a dead heat between Land Office (7g by Ukok Warrior) and Still the Same (7g by Nadeem) with Baker Boy third.

The winners were trained by Doug Ward and Bevan Johnson and ridden by Ron Goltz and Hannah English.

Princess Kandis (4m by Sebring), a $100,000 Sydney Easter yearling, won the 900m Class B at Kumbia for Dalby trainer David Reynolds and ridden by Rebecca Goldsbury.

Toowoomba trained Line Up (R. Goltz) was 3.5 lengths away in second with Avasa (C. Eaton) third.

The 1200m maiden went to Clifton-trained Lope de Vega five-year-old gelding, De Bandit Vega (R. Goltz) for trainer, Keiron Kirwin from Black Envy (H. English) and Ringo's Magic (M. Nakao).

Toowoomba trained Falvelon 4-year-old, Mister Spinks pleased favourite backers when the $1.80 popular pick saluted in the QTIS Class 1 for Toowoomba mentor, Kevin Kemp giving 4kg claimer Brooke Mackie her third race win.

Mishani Silver (R. Goltz) and The Intern (M. Wishart) filled the minor placings.

Bundaberg trainer, Laura Cronan notched up a hat-trick of wins with Strategic Maneuver six-year-old, Gambit, in the Jim Lenihan Memorial over 1400m beating Fort Meyer (J. King) and Legendary Luke (P. Hamblin).

Gambit had previously won at Nanango and Rockhampton for the Cronan stable.

Miles trainer, Bevan Johnson gthen shared the Kumbia Cup with Deagon-based trainer Doug Ward when Still the Same and Land Office dead-heated in the Kumbia Cup. …
