AN amazing restoration over the last DECADE has turned this Aislaby bungalow into a stunning six-bedroom family home.

Loxley Chase was built by the station master of Yarm Railway Station in 1925 and when the current owners began stripping the property back, they made a surprising discovery.

"There were railway sleepers with Stockton stamps on them and timbers from the carriages of the trains," they said.

"Legend has it he ....borrowed them, so we paid homage to that history.

"It's taken 10 years to complete. "When we bought it in 2006, it was a three-bedroom bungalow.

"It's now more than three times the size it was.

"The kitchen is the ultimate family room, we have had more than 60 people in there.

"Knocking out pizzas for everyone in the wood-fired oven is always a great party piece, people seem to love it.

"It's the house everyone wants to come to.

A few minutes' walk in one direction takes you to the bustle of Yarm High Street and everything it has to offer - but turn the other way, and the route takes you to the Teesdale Way, Middleton St George - you can even walk all the way to Croft and Darlington.

The property sits on a third of an acre, which is a huge plot for the area, and there are sweeping views down to Yarm viaduct.

A large chandelier-clad glass dome gives a real wow-factor on entering the property.

And although the current owner wanted to stay true to its original charm and features, they slipped in a few modern home comforts like underfloor heating, electric gates and intercom. The property is also 'insulated to death.' .' There's also a summerhouse that sits at the top of the rear garden, offering the last of the day's sunshine, and superb views.

A home gym is housed in a timber framed detached building, which has laminate flooring, windows to the side and rear, and electric heating and could also easily be used as a home office or playroom. …
