GRAFTON Greyhounds has a bumper 12-event card for this New Year's Eve race meeting.

Punters can enjoy a punt and an ice-cold beer around lunchtime with the racing at the midday slot. This is a time normally reserved for Casino on a Friday but with this being a New Year's Eve meeting, Grafton has obtained the lunchtime slot with the first of 12 races at 12.03pm.

Looking for a winner today is hard as usual, but we will certainly do our best at our last meeting for 2018.

I have made my best bet in race five, The Grafton District Services Stake over 407m, in the shape of the Sonia Kempshall-trained Floki Jappa. Having an impressive record of 11 starts for four wins and three second placings, Floki Jappa will be extremely hard to beat from this perfect box two draw. A winner here at Grafton in 23.33 from box eight, I'm sure we will see Floki Jappa go even quicker tonight, getting down to about 23.20, a time that should win this race easily.

Also, a winner at Casino in a sizzling 23.24 from the awkward box five draw, Floki Jappa should be out and gone.

Looking for the quinella hopes, I think Buffalo Soldier drawn out in box eight for local trainer Stevie Attwater can run a cheeky race, especially from his favoured box eight draw. A winner here in 23.43 and 23.53, Buffalo Soldier would need to go a bit quicker if it was to test Floki Jappa in tonight's race.

Nash Bonus for Evelyn Harris drawn in box four is a place chance for the multiples.

Race seven on tonight's card is the popular Kempsey To Grafton Final over 407m.

This brings a field where all the dogs in this final qualified at Kempsey on December15. Gee, what a hard race this is!

The fastest qualifier in the heats was the Jeanette Roche-trained Paper Tiger running the good time of 20.45. Paper Tiger also has had the benefit of having a run on the track when unplaced over the shorter 305m here two weeks back. …
