A former Richmond County math teacher has pleaded innocent to 55

charges of possessing child pornography, part of a case

prosecutors said includes 17,000 such images that originated in


Marion Card , 40, entered his plea Tuesday at a hearing where

U.S. Magistrate Leon Barfield also granted the government's

request to keep Card in jail until prosecutors bring an expert

witness to demonstrate why he should be denied bond.

The indictments naming Card say he downloaded about 17,000

images from the Internet. The images were of girls ages 7 to 9,

in a variety of sexual poses and acts.

U.S. Customs agents raided his home Sept 2, the same day agents

nationwide executed 32 similar warrants in 22 states. Raids also

were conducted in Australia and 10 European countries.

The investigation, code-named "Cathedral," linked members of

the Wonderland Club through the types of images they sent to

each other.

Card resigned from the Academy of Richmond County in September

after being charged with marijuana possession. Officers seizing

his computer said they confiscated the drug in his home.
