An 18-year-old Orange Park woman was killed in a car accident

last weekend near the private college she attended outside of

Asheville, N.C.

Kerri Kennedy was killed instantly Oct. 10 when a tractor

trailer headed west on Interstate 40 crossed the median and

struck her 1998 Jeep Cherokee, said Sgt. Tim Drake of the North

Carolina Highway Patrol.

Kennedy was attending Montreat Anderson College and was heading

toward the school when the accident occurred just west of Black

Mountain, about 7 miles east of Asheville, Drake said. The

passenger in her Jeep was also killed. The driver of the

tractor-trailer was charged with reckless driving and two counts

of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, Drake said. Alcohol was

not involved, he said.

A Middleburg man accused of stabbing two people during a

domestic disturbance at his home was arrested Sunday.

Vince Everett Breedwell, 40, is charged with two counts of

aggravated battery and resisting without violence, according to

his arrest report.

According to the report, Breedwell stabbed Mary Joyce White

twice in the abdomen when she intervened in an argument that he

was having with Donald Hayward, whom he had just stabbed in the


White, 41, and Hayward, 22, were airlifted to University

Medical Center. They were both in fair condition Thursday,

according to a hospital spokeswoman.

A witness told deputies that Breedwell kicked in the front door

and came in holding the knife. She tried to call 911 but he cut

the telephone line, so she ran to a neighbor's house for help.

A Jacksonville man accused of trying to break into a woman's

apartment as she watched from her peephole was arrested on

burglary charges Wednesday.

Jeremy Todd, 21, is also charged with carrying a concealed

firearm and possession of crack cocaine and marijuana, according

to his arrest report.

The woman, who lives in an apartment complex at 2040 Wells

Road, called deputies after she heard someone try her doorknob,

then ring the doorbell for several minutes, the report said. …
