Store Owner Beaten, Robbed at Gunpoint

The owner of the 63rd Street Grocery and Market in the 600

block of East 63rd Street said he was robbed at gunpoint as he

opened the store Thursday morning.

Jung Min Lee, 38, told police a man walked up behind him and

pointed a black semiautomatic pistol at him. The gunman demanded

Lee's money bag, which contained cash and payroll checks.

Lee said the robber struck him several times with the pistol.

As Lee began to chase the robber, the gunman turned and

threatened to shoot him. Lee was treated at University Medical

Center for head lacerations.

ARREST WARRANT: Police say a warrant will be issued for a man

in the robbery of Iris A. Brown, 37, of the 5700 block of Deming

Court.

Brown told police she and the man argued about 5:20 a.m.

yesterday at the corner of New Kings Road and Flicker Avenue.

She said the man struck her, then cut her several times with a

knife before taking the "fanny pack" she was wearing. Rescue

personnel treated the woman at the scene for minor cuts. …
