Jax Raceways saw record times in qualifying last weekend as five

Late Model drivers set lap times in the 19-second range for the

first time since the track's surface was sealed.

Jeff Godbee had a lap of 19.452 seconds to establish the

fastest time, putting him on the pole for the 30-lap feature

event. Gary Barrett was second fastest at 19.50.

Barrett got the jump at the start and took off to an impressive

lead until a broken tie rod put him in the pits on Lap 11.

Godbee took command from there and led the rest of the way.

The Open Wheel Modified division crowned a new winner this

season. Vel Lowdenslager took the lead from Chris Hammond on Lap

7 and held off Terry Pless, David Ryals and defending champion

Donnie Hall to claim the win in the 20lap event.

Meanwhile, two different drivers, same car, same results in

the Hobby Stock Division. Former division champion Eddie Holton

took the No. 30 car to Victory Lane for the third time in as

many weeks by leading all 20 laps. …
