The Duval County School Board took the following action at its

meeting Tuesday:

BOARD MEMBERS AGENDA:

Received status reports from committees of the New Century

Commission on Education.

Received status report on hospitalization insurance options.

Approved renaming Moncrief Elementary School the Saint Clair

Evans Academy.

INSTRUCTION AGENDA:

Approved the intensive remediation implementation plan for the

Pupil Progression Plan.

Approved a dual-enrollment articulation and instructional

materials agreement with the University of North Florida to

provide college-level courses and materials to high school

students.

Approved a similar dual-enrollment agreement with Jacksonville

University.

Approved a contract with Florida Community College at

Jacksonville for a summer program, Gaining Resources and

Developing Skills (GRADS).

Approved a dual-enrollment agreement with Tallahassee Community

College for participation in Florida Boys State and Girls State

programs.

Approved a contract with Jacksonville University for an Upward

Bound program academic component.

Approved a dual-enrollment agreement with the University of

Florida for the Honors Seminar in Scientific Inquiry, a summer

research program for high school students.

Confirmed submission of a $75,000 state Technology Literacy

Challenge Fund grant application.

Approved adoption and purchase of social studies textbooks

costing $1,725,698.

Adopted a new policy on head lice.

GENERAL AGENDA:

Approved a $1,250 pre-arbitration settlement with a

paraprofessional who was terminated after an unsatisfactory

evaluation. The person will be rehired as a probationary

employee at the previous salary and grade.

BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL SERVICES AGENDA:

Approved voucher and warrant list for March.

Accepted financial statements for period ending March 31.

Approved a $27,500 settlement with a person arrested at

Fletcher High School Nov. 1, 1994.

Approved a list of surplus equipment for retirement and

disposition.

Received for information a quarterly report from the Minority

Business Development and Assistance Program. …
