WTA Tour Appoints Chief Operating Officer

The Corel WTA Tour appointed Elizabeth Garger to the new

position of chief operating officer. She has been president of

Special Event Marketing, a division of the J. Brown/LMC Group

since October 1995. She begins her new job with the tour on May


Garger, a Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., resident, will develop global

marketing and communications plans, sponsorship servicing and

sales, and television packaging. She will report to Bart

McGuire, CEO of the WTA Tour, and assume some of his

administrative duties.

McGuire will continue to be involved in major sponsorship sales

and television matters, and with Garger he will also spend

considerable time on strategic planning, issues regarding

players and the tour's relationship with its tournaments,

according to a statement from the tour.

"Liz's background and mine are complementary," McGuire said in

the statement. "We are confident that we will work well

together, and at the same time we'll bring independent strengths

to our jobs."

DAVIS CUP LOCATION REVEALED -- The Indianapolis Tennis Center

will be the site for the United States vs. Belgium Davis Cup

quarterfinal tie July 17-19. The best-of-5 match will be played

in the 5,700-seat stadium court that is the site of the RCA


SUMMER CAMPS -- The Las Palmas Racquet Club will be the site of

a junior summer tennis camp. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to

noon on the following dates: June 8-12, 15-19, 22-26 and June

Selva Marina Country Club's Summer Tennis Camp is six separate

two-week sessions beginning June 2. The last session will end

Aug. 11. Each session is Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 2
