UP FRONT

Florida State held its first outdoor practice yesterday in

preparation for the Sugar Bowl, but the cold, wet weather forced

the Seminoles inside after 45 minutes. FSU spent the final 45

minutes of practice watching film of Ohio State, its New Year's

Day opponent. "Coach [Bobby] Bowden made a real good call,

because it was damp and practice didn't look good," FSU

assistant head coach Chuck Amato said. "The players got the feel

of putting the equipment back on and going back on the practice

field again. With no classes and no exams now, they can get

their mind on Ohio State."

QUICK HITS

While this is the third trip to the Sugar Bowl in four years for

FSU's seniors, it's a chance to go home and play in a major bowl

for freshman TB Travis Minor, a Baton Rouge native. "It will be

hard not to get up for this game," said Minor, who played a game

in the Louisiana Superdome as a high school junior. …
