Article excerpt

Head coach: Ed Barrett, third year (24-4).

1996 record: 12-2.

Last playoff appearance: 1996 (Lost to Bolles 33-10 in a Class

4A state semifinal).

Returning starters: QB/RB Teddy Ingram (6-0, 175, Sr.); OT/DT

Isaac Figuroa (6-3, 265, Sr.); NG Matthew Poteet (6-0, 210,

Jr.); RB/DB Rickey Dorsey (6-2, 185, Sr.); OG Maurice Fudge

(6-2, 235, Sr.); OG Justin Gambrell (6-1, 230, Jr.); WR Tim

Eusey (5-6, 145, Sr.); LB Steven Shields (5-9, 195, Sr.).

The good news: Lee is always tough and has blue-chippers in

Figueroa and Shields. Barrett promises that some young players

will open eyes.

The bad news: It's never easy to replace players like Atrews

Bell and Bryce Cox, and the Generals have new skill position

players on offense. Ingram is moving from running back to

Outlook: The Generals are rebuilding, but Barrett believes if

the team stays healthy and works hard, it will compete for a

district title.

Head coach: Arthur Mallory, seventh year (42-32).

1996 record: 4-6.

Last playoff appearance: 1995 (Lost to Crestview 26-21 in a

Class 4A regional game).

Returning starters: RB Jermaine Roberts (5-10, 175, Sr.); QB

William Hines (5-10, 170, Sr.); C Anthony Hester (6-4, 265,

Sr.); OG Antonio Emperator (5-10, 240, Sr.); G Jerome Reed (6-0,

240, Sr.); OT William Anthony (6-3, 350, Sr.); OT Carlton Henley

(6-2, 260, Sr.); DE Arthur Brown (6-3, 230, Sr.); DE Charles

Simpson (6-3, 245, Sr.); DT Jamian Butler (6-1, 300, Sr.); SS

Jeffrey Thompson (6-0, 190, Sr.), SS Ivory Orr (5-11, 180. Sr.);

FS Albert Gray (5-11, 185, Sr.); CB Sam Dickson (6-0, 180, Sr.).

The good news: Ribault is always loaded with top athletes and

this year Jermaine Roberts (1,056 yards rushing in 1996) should

lead a group of 14 returning starters.

The bad news: Talent doesn't necessarily guarantee victories.

Outlook: Ribault will be exciting to watch. Ribault's season

will be filled with big plays and with a good group of returning

starters, the Trojans should expect nothing less than making the

playoffs. …
